Hanson's Ajax Lake Fly-in - Walleye, Northern, Bass, Lake Trout
We have enjoyed the Ajax Lake area since the late 1930’s. Now we can enjoy it even more with a brand new cabin.
A large two bedroom cabin with room for up to 8 people and a second small sleeping cabin offer great accommodation for a wide range of groups.
The Ajax Lake area is a five lake system 30 minutes from Hideaway Lodge, with great fishing opportunities for walleye, northern, bass and lake trout. Small lakes and some short portages make for great canoeing. Shallow creeks and bays offer great moose aquatic feeding areas and some wonderful wildlife encounters. (View Lake Map)
Ajax has some nice sand beaches and several portage trails for hiking. Great baitcasting for northern (up to 44”), small and largemouth bass (up to 21”) and lake trout (up to 32”).

Nickel Lake Portage, all fish were caught casting. In 6 hours at Nickel we caught 35 northerns (30" was largest), 2 walleyes (18" & 17"), 3 largemouth (all 17") and 16 smallmouth (20", 2-19",18", 10-17", 16' & 15"). A really "special" lake that's definitely worth the two portages - Barb & Burney Fischer.

With it’s close proximity to Hideaway and King Island it is possible to combine a two or three stay at Ajax with a stay at one of the other two locations.
